What inspired me the most to create this piece was the lyrics and the video clip of one of Criolo's song named "Etérea".
Through the juxtaposition of the Jesus and St Mary's faces, I decided to create a new colourful character to honour the #PRIDE and LGBTQ community, which I belong, and also to reinforce how the religious idolatry of the top leaders in Brazil has affected so many lives, directly and indirectly.
The original design of the Brazilian flag is mainly composed of a green rectangle, a yellow rhombus and, in its centre, a blue sphere. Instead, in this artwork, for well-known reasons, I decided to use these elements out of balance.
Also, the green field was substituted by a light green element to reinforce the disregard for the environment in Brazil's new administration.
Humour has always been present in my life. That's the reason why I always try to add some fun characters to my artworks. This time, I chose Pinocchio, representing the ignorance, the corruption and the partial way in which the truth has been treated in the daily discussions of the Brazilian society, whether its people are living in or out of the country.
